No secret herbs and spices needed

The Year 9 Agriculture classes are currently learning about the Australian Poultry industry. Earlier in the year, a number of broiler birds were raised from chicks and they were provided with a suitable protein-based diet. The students weighed the birds each week and recorded their growth. The collected data was processed in Microsoft Excel to generate tables and graphs that were used to interpret growth curves. These visuals allowed the students to analyse and better understand the production figures associated with this intensive industry. The students were able to observe the changes in growth and they witnessed first-hand how selective breeding used in Agriculture allows food to be produced efficiently and sustainably.

After the birds had been processed offsite, the students were able to assess the quality of the product, whilst they completed a lesson focused on better understanding the physiology of the Australian meat chicken. The students were amazed at the amount of meat and protein each bird is capable of producing. A value adding activity was also completed by the students. The product that they produced was compared with another locally sold product and our product was deemed to be vastly superior in quality and quantity (even without the secret herbs and spices!).

After School Care fun

Our Junior School students have been extremely busy in After School Care this term! They have enjoyed wide range of activities including cooking, coding, craft and Lego building.

In a recent coding lesson, students programmed robots that where covered in paint and when they moved, they created a painting! Our students always love cooking sessions where they get a delicious afternoon tea at the end! As always, Our LEGO and craft afternoons are always a hit as students have the opportunity to explore their creativity and build freely.
