Music News

First and foremost, we would like to thank all students and families for their continued commitment, support and involvement in Co-Curricular Music at Marist College Ashgrove throughout 2020. Although many of our usual proceedings, concerts and events have been impacted by these unprecedented circumstances, the spirit of College Community within the Music Department has been well and truly alive. Starting with virtual ensemble performances during the home-learning period, through to filmed concert recordings and special recording projects for some of our senior ensembles, we continue to make arrangements to conclude the year with celebrations within the capacity of current gathering restrictions, with the wellness of the College Community in mind.

2020 Soiree

We are excited to announce that Soiree 2020 will still go ahead on Friday, October 23 as per the College Calendar. Our annual gala event will still form as a graduation event to farewell our 2020 Year 12 Students. Please note this concert will be only open to parents, grandparents and siblings of our Year 12 students with a maximum of 5 family members allocated for each student. We appreciate your understanding regarding these arrangements and note that the concert will be filmed and published for viewing by other families and the wider College Community soon after. The Soiree will feature Wind Symphony 1, Symphony Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble 1, Chamber Strings, Guitar Orchestra 1, Chamber Choir and Big Band 1. All other ensembles (not including Year 12 students) will have the opportunity for a final combined videoed performance and break-up celebration during rehearsal time in Week 2, Term 4. Further details regarding both the 2020 Soiree and Week 2 break-up celebrations will be emailed to respective ensembles members and families.
