Music at home

NOTES

Many thanks to all the parents who are encouraging their children to complete their Music tasks. It seems lots of you are having family fun with these, so do keep up the good work for one more week. Next week it’s the Specialist Challenge Day, so all the Specialist teachers are looking forward to seeing what wonderful things our students do with the activities we have designed to make this a special day for everyone.

Hopefully there will be a movie in these notes to show off some of the work that’s been done by the Year Four to Six students. Charlie T has ticked all the boxes in the task that was set over four weeks and her performance is outstanding. Students were asked to write a story and include a name and numbers that they could perform with body percussion. They also had to include the eight “efforts” notated by Rudolf von Laban who found a way to write down movements.

Watch carefully to see the body percussion she uses to spell her name and some numbers, and look out for the “efforts”. You should be able to see wring, flick, press, slash, float, dab, glide and punch.

Children from Foundation to Year Two have been listening and moving to Camille Saint Seans’ silly music, “Carnival of the Animals”. It’s been very interesting to see what they’ve noticed about the music.

Enjoy the Challenges next week!! Then have a restful,

re-creative two weeks of holidays and be back, refreshed,

for Term Four.
