The staff are so incredibly supportive and the students are amazing. I'm extremely grateful that I can wake up in the morning and enjoy coming to work!

I was a travel agent at Flight Centre, which then led me to do a lot of travel and live in the UK on a working visa for 2 years. When I returned home, I worked as an Accounts Manager at Kaisercraft Head Office. I then tried my luck and applied for a job at SCSC, where I was lucky enough to be the successful candidate.

What role do you have at SCSC?
I wear a few hats at SCSC. I am the Daily Organiser, which means I look after finding replacement teachers for staff on leave for whatever reason, this is a very demanding role in a school this size, however, I welcome the challenge.
I am the First Aid Leader, this requires me to have a higher level of first aid training than general first aides, to ensure everyone's safety. In this role I need to remain calm in sometimes difficult and stressful situations as well provide care to those in need. I keep track of medical management plans and medications for individual students within the school.
In addition to these two roles I am also the Wellbeing Team Assistant, my role here works cohesively with the First Aid role where in some instances I chat to students and determine if they need to be referred to the Wellbeing Team.
What do you like about working at SCSC?
I love the varied personalities that I encounter every day, as well as the situations I need to deal with keep me on my toes and engaged whilst providing me with new challenges! I love chatting and having joke with the students, it helps to break down barriers, make them feel more comfortable and hopefully bring a smile to their face.
What other professional roles did you have before working at SCSC?
I have worked with the Education Department for the past 19 years. Over this time, I have always been involved with First Aid at a high level, my other roles have included Integration, Student Teacher Assistant, Administration, Enrolments, Finance and Attendance.
Outside of the Education Department, I was involved with Geelong State Emergency Services as a Deputy Controller, managing emergency services and dispatching teams to assist those in need. I was also in the Water Rescue Team often deployed to floods to assist with rescuing stranded/trapped persons.
Before working in Education, I had a Jim's Mowing business that my partner and I grew enabling us to split the business and on sell additional Jim's Mowing businesses. This was a physically demanding job, but very rewarding growing something in its infancy to a business that was not only successful for us but being able to share that success with others.

What role do you have at SCSC?
My current role as part of the Administration Team is Enrolments & Bus Coordinator. Some of the things I do in my role are new enrolments, exits and student attendances, liaising with parents and other primary and secondary schools. Managing the school bus service requires me to assist families within our college to understand and access which services are available.
What do you like about working at SCSC?
I love working with the staff and students at SCSC for many reasons. I especially like seeing the students every day, having conversations with them and getting to know them on a personal level; ensuring they know we are always there for them and their stories matter. SCSC is like a big family where everyone is made to feel safe, welcome and appreciated.
What other professional roles did you have before working at SCSC?
I worked at ETIHAD (Marvel) Stadium for many years as part of the leadership team where I worked major events including sporting events, functions and concerts. I was part of the membership team at the Geelong Football Club for 2 years prior to becoming an event coordinator. After deciding I needed a change I studied and then was lucky enough to become part of the SCSC family.
