Principal's Report

One of the greatest highlights of my week as Principal, is viewing the curriculum being provided to our students in the remote format.  The staff and the students are to be applauded for the manner in which they have adapted the curriculum to the online platform.  I am sure that your child is now teaching you as parents many new things!

We may be working remotely but the planned curriculum is still being delivered to our students.  The rapid developments in our use of technology by both staff and students is advancing every week.

One thing we have discovered is that children do not fear technology in any way and they are demonstrating their ongoing willingness to be risk takers and explore the many applications available to them without fear of failure.

Many of the special activities we are currently focussing on is that of connectedness.  We understand that nothing can replace the daily catch-up with friends, class mates and family members but we are constantly endeavouring to maximise the sense of community and wellbeing by implementing a variety of whole school activities to engage not only our students but also all family members.

School Assemblies Online Have Commenced

Our student leaders are busy planning our weekly virtual assemblies.  Our first assembly this term featured our school captains, the Prep team, House Challenge results, Junior Council announcement and Music Project instructions. We aim to conduct our virtual assemblies each week as a way of keeping our whole school connected.

Below is a link for last fun Friday Assembly with the Year 2 students , teachers, Mrs Simpson and Mrs Duffy.

Whole School Music Project from the  Music Department

In lieu of helping the students of our school come together in a whole school concert, our Captains have created a virtual choir project for those students who would like to be involved.

Our special thanks goes to their parents for their support and especially Marnie Kocent for offering to do the many hours of work it will take to compile the Virtual Choir. Please see the Virtual Choir Performance page for a message from our Music Captains.

Whole School Flash Mob Dance

The PE team have put together a whole school dance called 'Dance Monkey' choreographed  by PE teacher – Mrs Jones to teach the students a routine from Prep –Year 6. The idea behind it being that the whole school can showcase the dance with every student learning coordinated movements to the entire song. This will then be virtually presented throughout the school as a Flash Mob Dance where the whole school is dancing at the same time. We are also hoping for staff to learn it too.

Student  Wellbeing Initiative

Ruby and Faith our 2020 Wellbeing Captains have initiated a unique idea to spread some joy in the community.

The Wellbeing Captains have turned the Reserve Rd school fence into a ‘Wellbeing Wall’, where we can all add our own messages and pictures of gratitude or positivity to make people smile. Please send your colourful pictures, poems, drawings, quotes, or words of gratitude to beaumaris.north.ps@education.vic.gov.au or drop them at the front door of the school on the table so we can laminate them and hang them on the fence.

Staff Challenge

It is not only our students who are trying something new. The PE team have initiated a team building activity to get all staff a little more connected during this time.

The staff have been divided into four teams and we are embarking on a “Walk to Byron Bay!”

Thank you Dani, Deb and Kirsty you will now ensure we all use our one hour of  exercise productively.
