               A Prayer for the End of Term

We thank you Lord, for this term.

For the challenges, the successes,

and the mistakes from which we have learnt.

Be with us as we spend our time with family and friends.

Give us strength and courage to do what is right;

to be witnesses of our faith.

Help us to be a practical Christian these holidays,

to appreciate what others do for us,

to give time and effort to help others,

to be peacemakers in our family.

Keep us safe in our activities;

give us good rest and good fun.

Bring us back refreshed and ready for a new term.

We thank you for our classmates, teachers,

parents and a community that cares for us.

May we always be conscious of you in our lives.

Amen

Sacramental Program Dates 2020

Thank you to all families involved in our Sacramental Program in 2019. Last Friday's Confirmation was a prayerful celebration to conclude the programs across 2019. Families with Sacramental journals at home are invited to return them to school over the coming weeks. Father Albert has been extremely happy with families commitment with attending mass to allow students to be more comfortable and knowledgeable about the mass leading up to each sacrament.

The dates below are proposed for 2020 and are our preferred dates which may change but going on this year's experience they are most likely to stay as is. If you have any questions please see me at school or email pmcdowell@olscwyn.catholic.edu.au

Year 3/4 Shoebox of Love Project

As a part of our Religion unit on Saints, we took action to serve, by creating shoeboxes of love for 9-10 year olds in need. We decided to include items from each of the following categories:

Clothing - Toys - Personal Hygiene - School Materials - Something Special -

Something to Love

In order to earn the money for these items, we did chores at home, in addition to the chores we were already doing.  We earned a budget of $30 per Learning Group for the cost of these items.

As part of our Maths unit on Money, we looked up items to buy using catalogues and websites to shop for the lowest prices as we were on a budget, however also keeping in mind the quality of these items.  We chose items that we would love to receive and we hope that the boy/girl will feel happy to receive them too.

We would like to thank our teachers and parents for supporting us in this cause and also Noelene and Sue from our local St. Vinnies, for taking the time to come to our school and receive these gifts.
