Teaching and Learning in the Senior School

Strategic Priority: A Learning-Centred College

Learning and teaching will be the core focus of the College. Learning opportunities for students will be built on a contemporary, student-centred and evidence-based learning framework which equips students to be aspirational, independent in their learning, and to strive for excellence. Teaching will be built on collaborative, contemporary practices which engage and inspire students, further developing them to be graduates ready to successfully take their place in a changing world.

Now that we are working actively with our new College Strategic Priorities, I have been on the lookout around the school to gauge just how much of the above statement is aspirational, and how much of it is already a consistent reality.  What I have concluded is that both positions are true; each day our students and teachers are actively engaged in learning that is inspiring and relevant to our contemporary context, yet each day we are striving to do better.  This dedication to continuous improvement is important for our students to see in action, for it is what we would hope for their approach to life, love and work into the future.

In our classrooms, and at the recent College Open Day, I took some opportunities to capture some photographs of some of the things that inspire our teachers and students each day:
