Duke of Edinburgh

Killara High school has had a long tradition of hosting the Duke of Edinburgh's program. This year Mrs Downes will be coordinating the program. She is located in B07 and has allocated the following times to answer questions, emails and return phone calls;

Wednesday week A between 9.00am – 10.00am

Wednesday week B between 11.40am – 12.40pm

General Information

The Duke of Edinburgh's Program is a global youth development program, empowering young Australians aged 14-24 to explore their full potential.

For students that are registered as participants 2017-2020

  • Keep logging your hours of service learning, physical recreation and Skills.
  • Your supervisor must have completed a Working with Children check and this form must be given to the front office before Mrs Downes can approve you to commence your activity.
  • Adventurous Journeys (AJ’s) – many students have booked to complete the AJ’s in the upcoming school holidays. For those students who were not able to book for the holidays you will need to sign in with Mrs Downes (B07) so that she can register you for the camp.
  • More details will be forthcoming about moving your award on from Bronze to Silver or Silver to Gold.

For students that would like to register for 2021

  • Ensure that you have filled in the expression of interest form and returned that to Mrs Downes. If you need a form please come to B07.
  • A Compass event will be set up for these students. Parents will need to provide consent and payment to the school.
  • Once the consent form is complete and payment made you will be able to log into the ORB (On line Record Book) and Mrs Downes will then approve you as a participant.
  • You will then be given the Google Classroom code.
  • Frequently asked questions
    • Can my child start is they are not yet 14 ? Yes as long as they are in Year 9 2021
    • Can my child start at Silver if they are 15 or Gold if they are 16? Yes but they will need to spend longer on certain aspects of their award.
