Classroom News - Year 3

Mrs Johnson/Mrs  Newsome and Miss Archibald

Year 3 have settled in well to their first few weeks of term, becoming authors as part of our narrative unit in English. We have been reading a range of different texts and exploring the use of illustrations, descriptive language and the use of characters to create great stories. We composed our first big write for the term and it was fabulous to read so many creative and interesting adventure stories!

We have commenced investigations into materials in our world in Science, and the students have shown great interest in exploring Australia’s history and important celebrations. We have studied the illustrations of artist Ron Brooks and attempted our own sketches using similar style and colour.

Despite the rainy weather, Year 3 students thoroughly enjoyed the Swimming Carnival last week. It was wonderful to see so many students participating in the events and striving for new personal bests in the pool.

Just a reminder, if you would like home readers sent home with your child, please let us know. We look forward to meeting with our Year 3 parents next week at our first parent interviews.
