Celebrating Easter

Celebrating Easter at Curiosity

We look forward to celebrating the week of Easter with our community next week.  Over the past few weeks our teams have been exploring the Easter Story and all the events that happened in Jesus and the disciples lives leading up to his death and resurrection.

There have been parades as 'Jesus' has come riding into Jerusalem, washing of feet, sharing in special meals together, caterpillars turning into chrysalis, lessons on how to express feeling sorry and to forgive others and thoughts around how great God's gift of Jesus can be to us.

The Blue Team have had a focus around sharing the story through 'Resurrection Eggs'.

Resurrection eggs are a beautifully visual way to share the story of Easter with children. They are a set of plastic eggs like the ones used in an Easter egg hunt, but they don’t carry chocolate or jelly beans. Inside each egg is a symbol that represents a part of the story of Jesus’s death and resurrection. In the Blue team we are opening one egg each day during the 2 weeks leading up to Easter to help us to tell the story together.

The symbols that we are using, and the part of the story that they represent are:

  1. Donkey and palm branches: Jesus’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem
  2. 30 Coins: Judas betrays Jesus
  3. Washcloth, water jug and soap: Jesus washes his disciples’ feet
  4. Bread and cup: The Last Supper
  5. Praying hands: Jesus prays in the garden of Gethsemane
  6. Cross, nails and crown of thorns: Jesus is crucified
  7. Dice: Soldiers play a game for Jesus’s clothes
  8. Linen cloth: Jesus’s body is wrapped for burial
  9. Stone: A stone seals Jesus’s tomb shut
  10. Empty tomb and angel: Jesus is risen from the dead

We are also sharing some of the stories and images in ‘The Jesus Storybook Bible’ and singing songs that connect with the stories and with the Easter message.

We have been offering children opportunities to share what they know about Easter, and how they celebrate this time with their families.

The Easter garden that we planted with seeds last week is being cared for by the children each day, and has begun to grow. Next week we hope it will have grown much more, and we will add crosses and flowers to it as well.

An Invitation to Worship

The entire Curiosity Community will be going to Worship on the 31st of March.  Please be at the Centre before 8:40am otherwise we will meet you at the Church over at the School.  our mobile number is:  0408 226 664 if you arrive late and do not know where to go.

Hot Cross Bun Day

To finish our week of celebrations, the children will be making Hot Cross Buns and enjoying them before heading off for the Long Weekend.  We will have gluten free options available but if your child has any other food allergies, we ask that you send an Easter treat that they might like to eat instead.

On this day, if your family would like to donate a pair of pyjamas to BackPacks for SA Kids, they are currently out of stock for girls and boys ages 3 and low on size 4 and 5 for boys.  Emma our parent representative will then deliver them to the organisation.  Thanks.
