Coronavirus (COVID-19) advice for parents, carers and guardians (education.vic.gov.au)

The Victorian Government today announced new directions to prevent the spread of the COVID-19. As a result, in line with the directions issued from Victoria’s Chief Health Officer, all Victorian schools will move to a period of remote and flexible provision from Monday 15 February to Wednesday 17 February inclusive. WPS will provide on-site supervision for students in the following categories:

  • Children whose parents are considered essential workers as listed, cannot work from home and where no other supervision arrangements can be made
  • Vulnerable children, including children in out-of-home care

Please contact us via phone on 0419 544 765 or email directly at nieta.manser@education.vic.gov.au to discuss your child attending onsite supervision. During this period, to the extent possible, teachers will provide a short Reading and Writing activity as well as a short Numeracy activity each day. This will be uploaded onto Compass on Sunday afternoon/evening. At this stage we are not going to roll out live WebEx meetings with the class but if the lockdown is extended beyond the 3 days, we will revisit this. The staff and I will be calling all our families to talk directly with you to offer support during this period. As a community we are all getting better at adapting during this pandemic, but we are also aware that lockdown is a very difficult time for some families and extend our hand to help you in any way we can. The planner that you will receive is there as a guide and if you are having trouble implementing or getting your child to do any work, please reach out to your classroom teacher. We are required to take attendance each day so if you and your child are opting to not complete the work offered that day, please log your child as absent on Compass. I will be attending school each day and there are some staff that are kindly offering to assist in the supervision of children onsite.  Please be advised that children onsite will receive the same activities as those students learning from home.

Stay safe,

Nieta Manser
