Headphones

The students of St Philomena's Catholic School are fortunate to have access to a range of technological devices for class-based learning.

We are asking families to supply their students with a pair of headphones that can be plugged into the various devices they have access to.

For health reasons, it is important that each student has their own available pair, which is clearly labeled.

To assist families we have researched available options

Year 6 Mathematics

Year 6 students were successful 21st-century learners as they were equipped with digital numeracy skills during the recent unit of “Addition and Subtraction” in Mathematics. Students were given a budget of $30 to select a 3-course meal from a menu and they had to transfer, as well as organise the information into a Google Sheet. Ultimately, they have mastered the skill of applying the appropriate formula (sum function) to calculate the total cost of their bills.

Last Monday, Year 6 also had an opportunity to learn how addition in Mathematics can be applied in understanding the logic behind computers (Binary System). They were all engaged in the activities of using the system to crack mystery codes and write secret messages to their peers.
