Greetings from Julie

Graduation

Despite the challenges remote learning presented for our graduating grade 6 students, the 2021 grade 6 graduates were able to hold their heads up high and kick up their heels at the graduation celebration on Tuesday. Congratulations to all the year 6 students and good luck as you continue your journey at secondary school.

Parents are invited to attend the final assembly at 1pm this Friday 17th December 2021. This assembly will be held outside. Proof of vaccination is required to attend.

Production

The 2021 NPS production “The Lizard of Aus” will be available for the community to view this Friday 17th December 2021. A link will be sent for you to be able to view the production. There is no cost to families to view. Students will also be viewing the NPS 2021 school production at school on the last day of term.

Parent Payments

Please not that Northcote Primary School’s voluntary financial contributions for 2022 schedule was sent out via Compass and email. The ongoing support of our families ensures that our school can offer the best possible education and support for our students, allowing us to offer a wider offering of subjects and special curriculum experiences and enhance digital learning opportunities.

These fees are payable week two of term one, 2022. We are unable to accept payments earlier. If you would like a copy, please ask at the office.

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)

Just a reminder that BYOD devices need to be ordered by January 3rd, 2022 at the latest, for grade 3/4 students choosing this option.

Learning With Technologies (LWT) have set up a Northcote Primary School BYOD parent portal that can be accessed through this link LWT BYOD Portal. The portal has the devices that Northcote Primary School has

nominated to best meet the curriculum and technical requirements of students.

Child Safe

Northcote Primary School is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people. This will be the primary focus of our care and decision-making. Northcote Primary School has zero tolerance for child abuse and is committed to providing a child safe environment.

Vaccinations

Children aged 5 to 11 will be eligible for COVID-19 vaccinations from 10 January 2022.  Getting vaccinated is the best way to protect our school communities from further outbreaks and the spread of COVID-19.

Vaccination is not mandatory to attend school, but it is highly encouraged to keep all children and their families safe.

The vaccine is one-third of the adult dose and will be delivered at 2 appointments, expected to be 8 weeks apart. The time between the two doses can be shortened in special circumstances, such as in an outbreak response or for international travel.

The Victorian Government aims to enable all children aged 5 to 11 to receive at least one vaccine dose before they return to school, and a second dose before the end of Term 1 2022.

Parents/carers are strongly encouraged to book their child in to receive their first vaccination as soon as possible after 10 January 2022.

Happy and Safe Holidays

I would like to thank everybody for making me so welcome at NPS and say how much I have enjoyed my time working here this term. Northcote Primary School is a truly unique community, and it has been a privilege to work with the teachers, parents, and students to support the continuation of the exciting educational programs on offer.

I would also like to take this opportunity to wish all our families a safe and happy holiday. We have all supported each other through some challenges in 2021 and I hope you will all take a minute to rest, relax and regroup over the break and enjoy time with each other.

Take care and stay safe
