Principal's Message

It Never Rains but it Pours!

Unfortunately an all too familiar phrase that usually follows some difficult situations. On top of an interrupted and unusual start to the year due to imposed restrictions on School Operational Guidelines, which has resulted in postponed events and modified practices, today we arrived to a burst mains water pipe and no supply of water to the campus.

Despite the best efforts of plumbers and engineers to rectify the supply of water quickly, the problem required extensive and prolonged work. While temporary measures suffice for our morning periods, a decision was made to close school early at the Recess break, with respect to hygiene and health and keeping in mind the wellbeing of all students and staff.

I would like to sincerely thank the parents who responded quickly to arrange the prompt pick-up of students. Similarly, I would like to acknowledge the College staff who quickly mobilised to arrange bus services and supervised the smooth departure of our boys. I would also like to thank the boys for the manner in which they co-operated in leaving the campus as directed. I think the chance to start their weekend a little early was a good motivator, but I am sure many would have been going home to study!!

The nature of these first two weeks has required me to write a number of letters to parents. While I often preach the importance of regular communications between the College and Families, I respectfully apologise for the number of these communications over the past fortnight. While I appreciate the many supportive and grateful replies from many of our parents, I would like to think, and certainly pray, that there may be a few less 'Letters to Parents’ in the next few weeks. Having said that, the changing nature of our COVID landscape still looms ahead. Thank you for your support as we seek to navigate all such things.

Stay safe!
