Reflections on Faith

WELCOME BACK TO TERM 2!

I hope everyone had a restful holiday and had a beautiful Easter surrounded by family and friends.

This Friday our Stage 2 and 3 students will attend Mass alongside the parishoners at 9:30am. We are very excited to be back in the Church and celebrating Mass with the Parish!

Next Friday, 13th May, Stage 2 students will receive Reconcillitation.

Sacrament of Holy Communion

Throughout term 2 our students will begin preparing for the Sacrament of Holy Communion. This Sacrament usually applies to children in Year 3, or any others who may have missed completing this Sacrament prior to now. Thank you to all parents who have completed the Parish Census to gauge numbers for each Sacrament throughout the year. If you are unsure, please contact me at the school or Father Gleeson.

As you know the Sacraments are a Parish activity and not a school activity - they belong to the life of the Parish. Father Gleeson will be celebrating this Sacrament with the children and has introduced a Parish based programme which needs to be fulfilled for children to complete this Sacrament.

Wednesday 11th May at 5:30pm in the Church is the parent information session and I encourage all parents to attend this session with Father Gleeson. Father Gleeson will go through the Parish requirements for the Sacrament of Holy Communion and parents involvement. As part of the Church, St. Joseph's is also actively preparing your children for this Sacrament through school based Religious Education lessons.

Please note that one requirement is that students attend Catechesis sessions with Father Gleeson after weekend Mass (Saturday evening or Sunday morning). Catechesis sessions will occur at designated Masses (There are 5 Sunday Masses prior to the confirmation weekend, candidates must attend 3 out of 4 Catechesis sessions at these Masses).
