WELCOME BACK

Welcome to Term 2.  We trust that all students have spent some time practising over the break.  A reminder to Year 7 students that at this stage they should be aiming to practise a minimum of 20 minutes four times a week to improve on their instrument.  We look forward to improving performances over the term.

SYMPHONIC WIND BAND CAMP

The Symphonic Wind Band held their Annual Rehearsal Camp last weekend at the Don Bosco Camp in Dromana. The band of forty students left early on Sunday morning and returned to school on Tuesday having put in many hours of valuable ensemble rehearsal. Our thanks go to Ms Rogerson for her outstanding organisation in putting the camp together and also to Mr West and Mr Serebrianik for their help.

INSTRUMENTS

Instrument hire fees are due now and are paid through COMPASS this year. We also remind students and parents that privately owned instruments that are brought to school, should be clearly identified with the relevant student’s name and telephone number.

AMEB SESSION 1

Enrolments have now closed for the first session and exams will be in May. We wish all candidates good luck and a reminder to keep practising. Most students who intend to undertake an AMEB exam will be entered for the Session 5 exams in October. The closing date for this session will be the last week of Term 2.

 

Congratulations to Mr Dmitry Serebrianik on the birth of his daughter Roni Eve.  We wish both he and Chantal all the best on their growing family. Thanks to Phillipa Edwards for filling in so ably at the end of Term 1 while he was on leave.

CUBA TOUR MEETING

A meeting is being held on Tuesday 26 April in the Music Auditorium for all members of the touring group to Cuba.

 

Term 2 has a number of performances where students will be able to demonstrate their developing skills. These are the dates for important performances throughout this term:

  • Vocal Night - Thursday 21 April
  • Open Night – Tuesday 3 May
  • Stringfest – Friday 13 May
  • Cabaret Night – Friday 13 May
  • Senior Music Concert – Thursday 19 May
  • Junior Concert –Thursday 16 June
  • VCE Music Night – Tuesday 21 June
  • Cuba Tour – 20 June – 4 July

CABARET NIGHT – REQUEST FOR DONATIONS FOR HAMPERS/SILENT AUCTION

We are now seeking assistance in preparation for the Cuba Tour fundraiser Cabaret Night 7:00 pm on Friday 13 May.

 

Mrs Pryor is seeking donations for the Hampers and for the Silent Auction.  Please contact her directly to assist (pry@mckinnonsc.vic.edu.au).

Concession/non McKinnon students $15
