Student Leadership

College Captain Update

On behalf of my fellow leaders, I would like to commend all those who assisted us on our events across term one.

This can be extended to our ANZAC day assemblies to start term 2. Students had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of our National day of commemoration and have time to reflect upon war and peace.

We are very thankful and proud to announce that we raised $175 for the Dandenong Cranbourne RSL.

Over the past few weeks we have made sound planning progress and are happy to report that we are well underway in developing our passion projects to inspire and educate the HPSC community.

Our first long term fundraiser, the Cadbury Chocolates, are now available to purchase all day in the Senior Study Centre and will raise money toward the Year 12 end of year celebrations.

SRC Leader Update

The SRC has been meeting regularly to plan days of celebration across the school.

We held our Term 1 Out of Uniform Day and raised $950 for the Good Friday Appeal. This was such a great success and we thank everyone who donated to such a fantastic cause.

Last week the SRC took part in the Learning Conferences. As leaders, they welcomed students and caregivers, and guided them to their teachers for feedback on their learning.

The leaders enjoyed greeting and supporting members of our community. We enjoyed telling those we met about the school, and the programs on offer.

Many parents were absolutely pleased with the service of tea, coffee and refreshments provided and said that “they were a perfect reflection of the school. Well done SRC Leaders, you made us all very proud!

Our next Out of Uniform Day will be voted on by the study body in the upcoming Values Assemblies, make sure you bring along a device so you can have your say on where the money we raise together goes.

Domain Leader Update

From Monday the 29th of April, to Friday the 3rd of May, Hampton Park Secondary College held Humanities Week. This year, Humanities Week was constructed in relation to the upcoming 90th Anniversary of the 1929 stock market crash in October this year.

The week kicked off with an exciting Market Day during the lunch break on Monday, put on by our Year 11 Business Management students.

These students had worked extremely hard for a number of weeks to construct their own business which provided their Hampton Park Secondary College community with many scrumptious delights! The large variety of sweets and savoury items attracted a large crowd in the library courtyard which resulted in many smiling faces and full tummies. At the end of a very successful day for our Year 11’s they all generously donated a percentage of their profits.

After an eventful market day, Tuesday was a day for the college staff to tap into their 1920’s fashion with a dress up day. And truth must be told, we were truly taken back in time by some of the outfits we saw that day from fedoras to fur coats.

To finish off the week with a bang, a staff and students model shanty challenge where teams were challenged with the task of constructing their own model shanty. It was a tough competition as the only materials at hand were a cardboard box, blu-tack, masking tape, coloured paper, straws, scissors, popsicle sticks and markers. Once both shanties were completed, each team had to explain what they had built before undergoing harsh judgement.

The results came back in the student’s favour with a score of 12/15 as opposed to the teachers 8.5/15.

Overall Hampton Park Secondary College enjoyed a roaring week with exciting events people of all ages.
