ANZAC Day Commemmoration

On the first day of Term 2 (Tuesday 23 April), the College participated in ANZAC Day assemblies for each of the sub-schools.

The College Captains; Cain Stansfield, Tia Chater, Jessica Hogan and Salman Yousufi, and SRC Leaders; Felicity Junaidy and Ana Luca, led each of the assemblies, respectfully acknowledging all Australians and New Zealanders who served in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations through a traditional program which included;

  • the National Anthem sung by Jada and Tyla McGregor;
  • the Requiem read by Jenna McLaverty (Humanities Domain Leader);
  • Poems read by Mrs Val Simpson, James Fisher, Leora Gallagher, Joseph Koutsoubos and Nik Hibbert;
  • the laying of the wreaths by the House captains (Celeste Crete and Liam O’Kane – Cairns House; Leo Nanthalak and Cassidy McLean – Regans House; Daniel Khat and James Thompson – Somerville House and Jared Gath – Fordholm House);
  • the raising of the flag by Daniel Waterfield
  • The Ode;
  • The Last Post;
  • One Minute’s Silence and
  • The Rouse

Jim Naughton, an invited guest from the Dandenong / Cranbourne RSL, spoke to the Senior students about the important role that the RSL play in supporting service staff and their families.

Due to the persistence and dedication of Izack Faumuina, Gagan Singh and Joe Te’o the school raised over $170.00 for the RSL through the sale of wrist bands and badges.

The ANZAC Day Assembly will be a welcome and significant addition to our annual school program. I thank all student leaders and participants for their involvement in the success of these assemblies.

Government House

On May 1st, students Robert Naujock and Faizal Karim, along with staff member George Mattar, attended a ceremony at Government House to acknowledge the Social Ventures Australia STEM Project.

Whilst there, the students met the Victorian Governor, Her Excellency the Honourable Linda Dessau AC.

What a wonderful experience for all involved.

Open Night May 8th

On Wednesday 8 May, we held the Open Night for prospective students currently in Grade 6.

The evening was hosted by our College Captains, Salman Yousufi and Ana Luca. Student presenters from Years 7 and 8 shared their knowledge and experiences about Hampton Park Secondary College with our guests including a typical school day, the differences between primary school and secondary school, the curriculum and the Flexible Learning Space, our College Values, the Year 7 Camp, the Peer Support program and much more.

We thank our student leaders who presented their informative reflections to the audience. They were amazing ambassadors for the College.

Thank you, Salman, Ana, Kitty Lu, Esther Kaitani, Andrian Chung, Farzana Haidari, Mackenzie Goetjens, Amelia James, James Goldsmith, Loren Sumner and Michelle Balog.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Year 9 Community Involvement students for their tireless work in improving the appearance of the College grounds. They have been working on the noticeboards over the past few weeks, enabling the student leaders to be acknowledged within the College and providing a point of reference for students to speak to if they have any ideas that they wish to have addressed.

Book Launch at Bunjil Place

The school is currently busily planning a Book Launch for the “Tales from Hampton Park Secondary College” which will be held at Bunjil Place on Thursday 20 June from
