Around The School

Footy Colours Day

Another good reason to dress up and have a bit of fun - Footy Colours Day! Lots of students and teachers proudly wore their team colours today, both at home and at school.  We hope everyone's had a chance to get outside and have a kick!

Johnno's Run

This weekend five staff and a number of students are participating in Johnno’s Run.  This event is a virtual 5km or 10km charity fundraiser for Community Living & Respite Services (CLRS).  All funds raised through entries and donations will support the Opening Doors Project – specialised housing for people with disability.  Community Living & Respite Services are about to commence the building of specialised units for people with disability in Barry Street Echuca. Tax deductible donations can be made via our Business Manager’s fundraising page.  https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/suzanna-barry  If you see people out running and walking this weekend in yellow tops, they are likely part of the Johnno’s Run team. Well done to our staff and students!

Tournament of Minds

Good luck to the two Secondary teams and two Primary teams competing in the (Virtual) Tournament of Minds (TOM) regional finals this weekend. The teams will compete against other schools in the NSW Riverina area and have spent the last seven weeks working on a long term project in either Language Literature, Social Sciences or STEM areas.

Most of the work has been completed through Teams and email which has added another layer of complexity to the tasks but the students have all risen to the challenge. They have produced video entries and had to submit paperwork as part of their solutions.

TOM is a program for all primary and secondary students providing the opportunity to solve authentic, open-ended challenges that foster creative, divergent thinking whilst developing collaborative enterprise, excellence and teamwork.

Thank you to the teams for their perseverance and also Isabelle Williams for assisting the Primary STEM team. We look forward to hearing the results from the finals next week.

Tour De Kids Cycling Challenge

Once again Moama Anglican Grammar will be participating in a charity bike ride. Last year we topped the fundraising charts in the schools category for the Great Cycle Challenge. We are completing a new challenge this year and it would be great to get some more students involved in the challenge. Staff members Kevin Turner and Darcy Hall are the coordinating staff members, and they hope to get at least 10 students signed up.

This year we are participating in Starlight Foundations 'Tour De Kids' cycling challenge to raise money for sick kids from September 1-30. There is still time for you to sign up!

How it works:

  1. Sign up, choose your fundraising goal and your distance.
  2. Sign up to our team (Moama Anglican Grammar)
  3. Begin your warm up, practicing your daily goal before it begins
  4. Gather donations to help this amazing cause
  5. You have the month of September to complete your distance goal, using Strava to track your rides.
  6. There are plenty of prizes along the way as you raise money for the Starlight Foundation including Bandana's and Cycling Jerseys.

If any students (or staff) are interested and would like to sign up, or have questions, please contact Mr Hall. For more information online, visit:
