A Thank You Message from our Year 12 Students
On behalf of the whole Year 12 cohort, we would just like to say a huge thank you to all the MAG teachers and staff who worked to help us complete our trial exams. This time has been super stressful and uncertain for us as students, and just as stressful and uncertain for our teachers. But without all of their hard work, support and dedication, our trial exams would not have been as successful as they were. We just wanted to give a shoutout to all the teachers and staff who helped put together our exam packs, delivered them to each of us, invigilated the exams, collected them for marking, obliged with last-minute Teams call requests and helped us to work through all our tech difficulties. All of this was on top of teaching all their other classes. We also wanted to give a special shoutout to Mrs Catt and Ms Duncan who worked tirelessly to make sure this was possible for us and supported us every step of the way. The year 12 cohort are so appreciative of the support, positivity and guidance offered to us by our teachers, and cannot thank them enough.
Winter Candlelight Concert
Enjoy our Winter Candellight Concert, featuring some very talented young musicians and singers. Congratulations to the participating secondary students and thanks again Ms O'Shaughnessy and Miss Ellis for pulling it all together.
Deep Learning - Parvana
Year 7 English students are currently studying the novel Parvana. As a part of our Deep Learning initiative at MAG, students are required to create a multi-modal text in response to a societal issue explored throughout the novel.
To broaden students’ knowledge of the experiences associated with the war in Afghanistan, on Friday the 27th of August, Year 7 students participated in a Zoom call with Mr Troy Norris, Chief Boatswains Mate, who served in the Australian Navy for 15 years.
Prior to the call, students wrote down questions in response to the societal issue they are investigating. Whilst we ran out of time for all questions to be asked, this was a great opportunity for students to be exposed to the competency Citizenship and dimensions of “a global perspective” and “using technology for learning” that are associated with Deep Learning.
We are very appreciative of the time Troy gave up to expose our students to his personal experiences with the war.
