Primary

From the Primary Office

As per the Principal’s correspondence with families on Friday 27 August, the NSW Government has announced that remote learning will remain in place until Friday 22 October after which we plan for a staggered return. What this return will look like for our school will be communicated with families closer to this date. We will continue to offer the QDL program during this time.

The Primary school had planned a number of events to take place during this time; Father’s/Footy Colours Day, Year 3 Camp, Year 4 Camp, Year 5 Production, Year 6 Camp, Gymnastics Competition and the Meerkats Performance. Unfortunately, these events have now been cancelled.  We will organise alternate activities where possible, once we return to face to face teaching and learning. Where camps have been cancelled and alternate activities are not able to be rescheduled, we will reimburse costs towards school fees.

We understand that the cancellation of these events may cause disappointment. Teachers will address the feeling of disappointment with their students during the Pastoral Care check ins and suggest strategies to the students on how to overcome disappointment. In addition, the link below supports parents in having this conversation with their child at home.

Also provided below is a link to a recent panel discussion, hosted by The Royal Children’s Hospital about ‘Supporting children’s mental health through the pandemic and beyond’. Parents may find this resource useful to support their child’s mental health.

Wellbeing Support

If additional support is required, our social workers continue to be available, albeit in a different format. Should you require these services, please contact your child’s classroom teacher to discuss.

Onsite Supervision

A reminder to all our families that students should learn from home if they can. We will continue to be open for students whose parents are essential workers or who are vulnerable. Teachers are also instructed to work from home and we work with skeleton staff onsite to cover the supervision only. Rest assured that students onsite follow the same QDL curriculum and complete the set work by their teachers online.

Book Week - Restrictions Can't Keep Us Down!

Just like everything else, Book Week looks a little different this year. But that doesn't stop us! There were some very fun costumes to be seen for our Children's Book Council of Australia Book Week dress up day! Whether at home or at the School, plenty of “Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds” were explored. Thank you everyone for making it a fun day.

Keep up your wonderful reading!

Letting our Hair Down on Crazy Hair Day
