Covid Communication

Current guidelines allow for Kinder to remain open for all families, we hope to see all our children this week.

Please note that Stay and Play will be paused until COVID regulations allow.

Dickins Room

Our Wimbi children had a great session on Monday, starting with a music time with instruments. Using claves and egg shakers, we participated in songs, followed actions and instructions and worked together. This experience helps foster self regulation skills, multi step processing, concepts such as rhythm and timing- which have direct correlations to language and literacy skills.

The children enjoyed the beautiful sunshine in the morning, engaging in creative expression with chalk, cooking in the mud kitchen and using the digger in the sandpit. Inside we were very focused, with lots of co-operative play occurring through Lego, home corner and art.

We celebrated Elsie's birthday in the afternoon, it's always a special time celebrating these moments together.

Our Marram class has been running when it comes to areas of learning and engagement! With their interests ranging from Dinosaurs to the way things work through science and most importantly- anything food related! :)

After cooking with Cristina the week before last, the children were over the moon to make scones for afternoon tea! Whilst I was excited about the math, science and sequencing- they were excited about eating them, and we had 4 hours of questions on that before our afternoon snack time!

We've had lots of moments of group learning also this week, with dancing, drama and imagination games leading to some strong outcomes around leadership, confidence and multi step processing.

See you all for another wonderful week of learning!

Moore Room

We had a fantastic week in the Moore room. Continuing our Olympic exploration we have looked at; the world map and flags, used spades as oars for rowing, created a small world space Olympic arena and sung the National Anthem. We also enjoyed the song ‘I am Australian - we are one but we are many’, which we will be practicing the accompanying sign language. The children are also now well versed in Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi! We are looking forward to the Paralympics to continue these and the Olympic creed and values.

There has been some wonderful construction work occurring in the sandpit, big and little block areas as well as with manipulative construction. The play dough area - with nails, hammers, wood and hard hats allows for us to consider other ways in ‘connection’, through sensory play. This supports; inquiry, experimentation, hypothesising and investigation as well as fine motor skills and language development.

There has also been some fantastic social interactions in the pirate, dinosaur, vet and track making areas. These dramatic play spaces allows for the children to extend their language, create roles, use imaginations to explore scripts and ideas, turn take, negotiate and co-construct their learning.

We love going up to the school gardens. The children are really taking note of the changes in the junior playground build. It has been a great opportunity to discuss changes in environment – natural and constructed.

Have a super week!
