Principal's Report

Welcome back

It has been so wonderful to have all of our students back at school full-time again. We are so proud of how they have transitioned back with such confidence and positivity. All staff and students have been working hard at reconnecting with each other in person and returning to the learning culture they had built before the lockdowns. We are now also ensuring we are maximising every learning experience with our students for the remainder of the school year.

Arrival times

Upon our return to school, I have noticed a growing number of students arriving to school too early. Some students have been arriving as early as 8:00am. The safety of our students is incredibly important to us here at Orchard Park Primary School. The outside areas of the school are supervised from 8:30am each morning so I please ask parents to be mindful of this in the future. Before School Care services are available for our families if you require an earlier drop off with work commitments.

Prep Transition

We were so thrilled to welcome our 2022 Prep students to the school for their first official transition session this week. As you can see from the photos, the students had a very positive and fun experience together in the Learning Community. Even with the weather not being so kind, the students all left with big smiles on their faces and we can’t wait to see them back here on Wednesday 24th November for their next session.

School Uniform

With the extended period away from school during the COVID lockdown, we know some of our students have outgrown uniform items during this time. PSW, our uniform supplier is now back open and new uniform items are now available to be purchased. I can’t emphasise enough the importance of making sure all uniform items, in particular hats, jumpers and jackets are clearly labelled with your child’s name. This assists in misplaced items being returned to the student. As we are in a Sun Smart period right now, a school hat is also a compulsory requirement.

Some parents may begin purchasing new school shoes in the upcoming months. I just wanted to remind our families that the uniform policy clearly states that shoes need to be plain black. Please ensure this is considered with future purchases of shoes. This will be something we begin to enforce more strictly in the future.

Christmas Concert – SAVE THE DATE

A big commitment and priority for us at Orchard Park Primary School is around creating community experiences here at the school. Unfortunately COVID has impacted upon some of the plans we had, however we have still been able to have some great events throughout the year such as our outdoor film night, School Opening and our Mother’s Day Amazing Race. We are currently putting together the final touches to our Christmas Concert community event. The date we have locked in is Wednesday 15th December. We will provide our families with more details about what the night looks like in the near future. It will be an opportunity for our school community to come together and celebrate the end of our first year. For now, please pop this date in your calendar and stay tuned for more info in the coming weeks.
