I would like an abundance of peace.

I would like full vessels of charity.

I would like rich treasures of mercy.

I would like cheeerfulness to preside over all.

St Brigid of Kildare

Dear Parents and Friends,

Here we go again……

Not the news we were hoping for, but as we do with every other extension we join together as a community to make sure everyone is safe and happy under these difficult circumstances.

Again I commend each and every one of you for your resilience and strength in these difficult times and as I have said previously if you and your child/ren need to take a wellbeing day and not be on screens please do so.  Our mental health is very important and you need to do what is right for you and your family.  If you choose to take a day, can you please inform your child’s teacher so we can mark the roll correctly.  Just a reminder to our students to pop online to your three google meets each day and submit your work to your teachers.  Your teachers look forward to seeing you and the fantastic work you are completing.

As we go into another lockdown extension I have to ask you to complete the Operoo note regarding onsite learning for your child. This is a government requirement and I apologise that we have to continue to fill them out, but thank you for doing them so quickly for me.  This Operoo will be sent to all families today. Please check that your authorised workers permit is still valid as most run out today. When your employer completes your work permit please ensure that the dates and times are completed. Please get a new permit and send it through to me asap. Children cannot come onsite if we do not have a permit

Children who can come on site:

Category A

  • Children where both parents and or carers are considered authorised workers who cannot work from home, work for an essential provider and where no other supervision arrangements can be made:
    - Where there are two parents/carers, both must be essential workers, working outside the home in order for their children to be eligible for on-site provision.
    - For single parents/ carers, the essential worker must be working outside the home in order for their children to be eligible for on-site provision.

Category B

  • Children experiencing vulnerability, including:
    - in out-of-home care, deemed vulnerable by a government agency, funded family or family violence service, and assessed as requiring education and care outside the family home
  • - identified by a school or early childhood service as vulnerable, (including via referral from a government agency, or funded family or family violence service, homeless or youth justice service or mental health or other health service)

Please contact me if you have any questions regarding whether your child can come onsite.

You can contact me via wsullivan@sbmord.catholic.edu.au or ring the office on 95804518.

STAFF CHANGES

It is with a heavy heart that I announce that Michele Wain has taken up a new position as Finance Manager at a school closer to her home. After 17 years of valued services here at St Brigid’s we wish Michele all the best in her new position. She will be sorely missed here and she has been such a great support to me in as I took on my new role, but to all the staff here at St Brigid’s.

We have employed Fiona Blair to replace Michele. Fiona will be starting with us on Tuesday 7th September and have a 2 week transition period with Michele. Fiona has worked in a school setting prior and we are looking forward to welcoming her to St Brigid's.

NGV Virtual Excursions

I would like to say a BIG thank you to Mrs Kimball for organising the NGV Virtual Tours this week.  By all accounts the sessions were very engaging and a nice distraction for all involved. It was lovely to hear from Mrs Kimball about the wonderful manners our children displayed and the interesting questions that were asked.

Bookweek Dress Up Day

It was lovely to see so many of our Staff and Students dressed up last Friday to celebrate the end of Book Week.  It certainly put a smile on my face.

Foundation 2022 Storytime

COVID struck again this week and interrupted our planned Storytime Sessions for our 2022 Foundation Students.  We hand delivered an activity pack to each family and emailed the recorded Storytime Session.  I have loved seeing the beautiful work our new students have created.  We can't wait to have you back onsite at school really soon.

Learning Support Officer Week

Did you know that it is Learning Support Officer Week this week.  I would like to give a huge shoutout to our FABULOUS LSO's - Cathryn, Glenn, Sigi, Moira, Jules and Kate.  They have been onsite everyday of this current lockdown assisting with and supervising our onsite learners.  They do an amazing job, always with a smile on their faces!

World's Greatest Shave

Finn (3/4K) will be shaving his hair last week of  Term 3.  He had hoped to do it at school but with current restrictions Finn will now video his head being shaved and we will share it with you.  If you would like to get behind Finn's World's Greatest Shave - click here to the link to Finn's Leukaemia Foundation Fundraising Page.

Yours in partnership,

Wendy Sullivan
