Virtual self-defence
This week a group of students opted in for a virtual self-defence session run by Michelle from Elite Training and Sports Medicine.
Michelle has five years’ experience in Muay Thai, and rose through the sport quickly and started coaching and competing professionally two years ago. Over the last year, Michelle has been embracing the opportunity to use her skills to empower young girls in dealing with challenges they might encounter on the street.
During this session, students discussed the importance of protecting themselves and more importantly, preventing dangerous situations from arising. This discussion was incredibly valuable and a reminder of things to consider when walking or exercising on your own. The students also learnt how to perform a ready stance, palm strike and a number of kicks to fend off attackers if they ever find themselves in a dangerous situation.
We look forward to hopefully running the next self-defence session in a face-to-face setting at school soon.
