Service Learning update

The act of giving

The act of giving

The act of giving continues to be a focus for the Service Learning Program this week. At a time where there is so much that is out of our control, we find solace in the smaller things.

#shelfordactofkindness

A few weeks ago I asked students to share their acts of kindness with us.

This week, we are featuring the Year 6 Acts of Kindness:

  • Ruby B made beautiful lemon curd for some lucky locals
  • Ava S has been walking an elderly neighbour’s dog to lighten her load
  • KT wrote a beautiful letter to her neighbour.

No matter how big or small, we would love to know about your acts of kindness. Please email them to slewis@shelford.vic.edu.au

Shelford Winter Appeal

How can you contribute?

Sleeping Bags for Homelessness Fundraiser and Raffle

Help us raise enough funds to donate 50 Sleeping Bags for the Sleeping Bags for Homelessness program. Our raffle includes almost $600 worth of prizes donated by local businesses and the Shelford Community.

Families can purchase raffle tickets here or donate directly to the Shelford Winter Appeal here

Donate clothing and warm coats to St Kilda Mums

All donations must be either new or in great condition. No stains or tears please. (Infant to adult welcome.) We will be accepting these donations when we return to onsite learning.

Online option: St Kilda Mums are currently accepting online orders. Place an order for infant/children’s items, books, art supplies, sleep and feeding support and have it delivered directly to St Kilda Mums, 14 Winterton Road, Clayton VIC 3168

Donate non-perishable food items and toiletries to Compass Community Care

Help us fill the pantry at Compass Community Care. All donations must be non-perishable, new, unopened and within appropriate used by dates.

Online option: Purchase a Coles or Woolworths voucher online. Send Simone Lewis (slewis@shelford.vic.edu.au) the link or email it directly to kym@compasscare.org.au.

Please consider supporting this initiative by donating to our appeal and sharing these links with your family, friends and neighbours. Please include your daughter in the donation process where possible as this is a great opportunity to have open and meaningful discussions about homelessness and these services.
