Year 11: rising to the challenge

Trivia challenge | Self-defence and virtual work experience

Once again, many of our Year 11 students are rising to the challenge as they complete the final stages of the leadership process for 2022 positions. I know the staff involved in this process have been extremely impressed with the calibre of the candidates applying for these positions. We wish them all luck with their speeches. It is important to recognise that all Year 12 students will play an important leadership role next year and will act as role models to younger students.

Trivia challenge

The Year 11 students engaged in a trivia competition during a recent wellbeing period. The prize on offer was two tickets to the movies. Competition was tough! They had to complete lyrics, name movies and TV shows and answer general trivia competition. We all had a lot of fun singing and dancing to different songs and it was a great opportunity for the girls to let down their hair and have some fun after a tough few weeks. The final winner was Lucy O. Well done Lucy!

Self-defence and virtual work experience

A group of Year 11 students recently participated in a self-defence session organised by Ms Davis (see her article in this newsletter). The girls enjoyed this activity and learnt some valuable information and moves to assist in keeping them safe. It was a great physical activity to engage in and take a break from online learning.

The rest of the cohort began a virtual work experience project through ‘The Careers Department’, a careers program the school has subscribed to. Students were able to choose a career and begin a task that was very relevant to the industry. Once submitted they will receive feedback they can include in their resume. Having missed Year 10 work experience due to COVID-19, this was a way for these students to demonstrate relevant skills to their chosen area of work.
