Welcome back

CHPS is ‘buzzing’ already.  It has been great to see all the children quickly settle into classroom routines.  Near the end of last term staff were fortunate to attend workshops facilitated by Edwina Ricci and Andrea Jackson from the Maroondah Positive Education Network on Flourishing Classrooms.   We are excited to continue to embed aspects such as:

  • Belonging and Supportiveness
  • Collaboration
  • Routines and Habits
  • Autonomy
  • Student Voice
  • Clarity and feedback
  • Strengths
  • Goals and Accomplishments

and other engagement practices in their classrooms to maximise student learning.

At CHPS we appreciate that parents/carers play a pivotal role in their child’s education. Things that we know make such a difference include ensuring that children:

  • Have adequate sleep
  • Eat breakfast
  • Have healthy food in their lunchboxes
  • Arrive on time for school
  • Are in full school uniform to help them to feel part of the community
  • Have opportunities for physical activity

If you need any support or resources in these areas to support you, please don’t hesitate to contact me or our Wellbeing Officer: Cheyenne Mason.

Lest We Forget

On Monday the School Captains facilitated a minute’s silence to remember those who have served in many conflicts and other missions over decades.  When I went to purchase my ANZAC badge, the RSL representative told me about this amazing nurse, Vivian Bullwinkel who was a lone survivor of an attack in 1942.

After such a traumatic experience, she dedicated the rest of her nursing career to honouring those who did not come home, was a member of the Australian War Memorial and was President of the Australian College of Nursing. Vivian was recognised as an Officer of the Order of Australia in 1993.  At CHPS we speak a lot about helping children to build resilience, what an example Vivian and thousands of others are in our community.

Lest We Forget.
