The Kids Corner section of this fortnight’s newsletter features:

A poem by Aadyah (Year 3). His goal was to: “Ensure my dialogue sounds real”

In the morning light everyone said, “It is a storm!”
Lightening flashed and crackled – it looked like night, with no sight of light.

Soon the sun appeared, and everyone was filled with cheer, as their fear disappeared.

“The storms are gone, hooray!” but then, it became very warm!

A persuasive text from Erin (Year 3):

Canada

I always wanted to go to Canada and I am going to convince you to let me go. Firstly, when it is time to sleep, you can look out the window and see the northern lights. I strongly believe that we should definitely go to Canada, to see the beautiful northern lights.

Secondly, there are unforgettable sea and land creatures waiting for me! I can see whales, dolphins, tigers and even more. Canada’s protected animals are the Vancouver Island marmots, leatherback sea turtle, whooping crane, Peary caribou, Beluga whales and a few more too. I look forward to seeing them as they are beautiful.

Thirdly, if you know Canada you will know Rocky Mountaineer which is one of the most iconic railway journeys in the world and is the symbol of Canada too. On this journey I will see snow, studies show that eating fresh snow is good for your health!

Now that I have given you all of the reasons why I should go, when can I buy my tickets?

A poem by Ananda Year 5) – Below is her reflection of a picnic in Olinda village.

Title: The whispers of the trees

I walk barefoot on the soft moss
Around my legs, the water flowing
The nature urging me to walk across
The whispers of the trees hypnotizing

I lean on the trees and fire blazes in my eyes
The wind tugs a smile
The branches of a trees begin to rise
The whispers of the trees and its style

I come here every year
I love the feeling of this wind
Because here my thoughts are clear
The whispers of the trees behind

My thoughts are allowed to wander
The whispers of the trees, beyond her.
