French News

The Berthe Mouchette Competition is an annual French language competition and is open to students studying French as a second language or in French immersion. The competition evaluates students' oral proficiency in French and serves as a platform for students to showcase their language skills, gain recognition, and foster a love for the French language and culture. Winners receive certificates and prizes, inspiring other students to excel in their language studies.

On 5th June, Grade 3 and 4 will take part in the Berthe Mouchette Competition organised by the Melbourne Alliance Française French Language Competition. They will recite and illustrate a French poem to a panel of judges online. It is such an honour to take part in this competition and a HUGE MERCI to Alliance Française for donating the student fee.

Fitzroy Primary School fete

On Saturday the 21st of October, Fitzroy Primary School and the French Bilingual Association will hold a celebration of our wonderful school community. We are looking for people to help organise this event, everyone welcome! If you have a skill or know someone who does, please come and talk to Rebecca or Lucy. The next meeting will be held in 2 weeks.

French Literacy Support

We are very lucky this year to have dedicated support time to provide focused attention to our students' needs. This additional time allows us to address the specific requirements of students who would benefit from extension activities. We believe that by offering tailored support, we can help these students further enhance their language skills and excel academically.

We understand the importance of a smooth transition for new students joining our school community. Therefore, Lucy has taken the responsibility of providing extra support to those students who are new to our school. Her guidance and assistance will help these students adapt and integrate more comfortably into their new environment.

Lastly, thank you very much to Jillian Symons at Intext International Bookshop. She always provides incredible donations, resources and ideas to support our program.

If you are ever looking to buy quality French picture books, don’t hesitate to drop into Intext Bookshop in Kew East.
