Assistant Principal's Report

LAEL STONE

We had the incredible privilege of hosting a special guest, Lael Stone, on Monday night as part of our Resilience Project. Lael's visit was enlightening and inspiring and a true privilege for the OPPS community. Her passion and expertise lies in supporting parents to better understand their children, guiding adults in processing their own childhood trauma, and advocating for education systems that prioritize emotional awareness. At the heart of her work is one fundamental principle: connection and compassion.

If you were unable to attend the session, don’t worry! You can still delve into the wisdom and insights Lael has to offer through her work on various podcasts. We highly recommend checking out "The Imperfects" and "The Aware Parenting Podcast," both of which have garnered tremendous acclaim. In fact, "The Aware Parenting Podcast" currently ranks in the top 1% of podcasts worldwide.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Lael Stone for sharing her knowledge and passion with our community. Let us continue to foster connection and compassion as we navigate the beautiful journey of supporting our children and nurturing their emotional well-being.

STRUCTURED PLAY IN WHOVILLE

Our students are having a blast in our brand-new structured play "hub" known as Whoville! Thanks to our amazing Education Support Staff, this program is bringing a whole new level of awesome to our school days. From arts and crafts to building epic creations, from friendly board game battles to showcasing their sporting skills, our little Whos are living their best playtime lives! As the week winds down, we've got some mindfulness activities waiting for them, where they channel their inner zen through yoga and relaxation.

HOT MILOS

Our Year 6 students are continuing to fundraise for their Graduation at the end of the year. In light of the cooler months, they have made a delicious switch from selling Zooper Doopers to serving up Hot Milos instead. These warm drinks are $1 and have been an instant hit among our students, providing them with a cozy treat during chilly days.

Additionally, we have an exciting opportunity for our students to use their hard-earned spark bucks. By purchasing a coupon at the prize shop, they can enjoy a Hot Milo using their spark bucks as payment. Remember, our spark bucks are earned through the School Wide Positive Behaviour Program, where students demonstrate our school values. So, why not engage in a conversation during the walk or drive home and ask your children about their spark buck count and what they're earning them for? It's a great way to connect and celebrate their achievements. Thank you for your continued support, and let's keep the Hot Milos flowing!

TISSUE DONATIONS

As we enter the cold and flu season, we kindly request your assistance in ensuring the wellbeing and comfort of our students. With the inevitable increase in sniffles and sneezes, our school supply of tissues is quickly dwindling. Therefore, we would greatly appreciate any tissue donations you can provide. Whether it's a single box or a larger contribution, every tissue donation makes a difference. Please send in your donations with your child or drop them off at the main office. Your contribution will be greatly appreciated by our entire school community.
