From the Principal

We are extremely grateful that our community is free of restrictions and able to come together again to remember the events leading to the death of Jesus. This week, both Primary and Secondary students have been involved in beautiful Holy Week Liturgies.

On Holy Thursday, the Church remembers Jesus’ Last Supper and the story of Jesus washing the disciples’ feet. By his actions and words, Jesus is providing a model for us to follow: we too are called to be people of service.

The events of Good Friday remind us that Jesus shared our human condition and is with us in our suffering.

His resurrection brings us the hope of new life. We are called to exercise this new life by our actions. In a world that provides us with abundant comfort, the challenge is to not forget those who don’t share these luxuries.

The Easter Season continues for fifty days. When staff return on Monday 24 April, they begin with an Easter Liturgy. It will be a wonderful welcome to our new Principal, Daniel Mahon, who begins at the College on 20 April. Students return on Wednesday 26 April and on Thursday 27 April, Years 3 to 12 will join to commemorate Anzac Day. The gathering will provide Mr Mahon an opportunity to address the students for the first time. I will continue at the College for the first three weeks of Term 2, assisting both Mr Mahon and the College Vice Principal, Mrs Andrews, predominantly by conducting interviews for students entering the College in Year 7 2026.

We thank the following members of staff who will be leaving us at the end of term; and wish them well in their endeavours - from parenthood and leaving Australia to retirement.

  • Mrs Genna Haines, Primary Teacher (Parental Leave)
  • Ms Deb Tanham, Mary Ward Secondary Teacher
  • Ms Michelle Watkins-Saxon, Primary Education Assistant
  • Mrs Stephanie Kassner, Secondary Technologies Technician
  • Mrs Catherine Jordan, Principal’s Assistant
  • Mrs Lorraine Holmes, Teacher Librarian

They have all made a unique contribution in a variety of areas of our College.

Together let us seek justice.
