FLO Program at Etty St Campus

It has been a fantastic start to 2023 for the FLO (Flexible Learning Options) Program at the Etty Street Campus! Our student cohort is growing with some new students arriving to Etty Street, from Blakeley Road over the last couple of weeks.

Our students have been heavily involved in the Castlemaine Fringe Festival. Students conceptualised, filmed and performed in a two-channel video artwork for Fringe Art Window Trail (at Bezela Uniform Shop) titled How Are You Intelligent? Their video work is a symbolic, visual representation and exploration of our curriculum for Personal Development. We began the term studying Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligences in relation to Personal Identity. Students discovered there are multiple ways to be intelligent, and all are of equal value. This has been essential for building students' self-esteem and supporting them to take a strength-based approach to their Personal Identity. Their video artwork was their first creative applied learning project for the term and it has been celebrated within the community. Additionally, students created visual art works with projection artist Jim Coad for exhibition at Fringe event Reactivate and have been building relationships with Fringe Production staff to establish work experience opportunities in audio visual and lighting production.

Finally, one of FLO’s 2021 Year 12 graduates, Bohdi Cruise is embarking on the brilliant journey of enrolling in a Film and Television course at the Victorian College of the Arts, which is, as a tertiary institution, the academic pinnacle of applied creative practice. Well done Bodhi!
