SCIENCE

This week 7 Red and 7 Silver investigated the properties of dry ice by carrying out a series of practical experiments. Dry ice does not melt, instead it changes form a solid directly to a gas. This is called sublimation. The students mixed dry ice with water and with detergent. They also added food dye. Students used tongs to hold coins against the dry ice to observe what happened.

Today in year 7 science we did an experiment involving dried ice. In this experiment, we put dry ice into water then coloured the water. This made gas go everywhere. Then we put dish soap into the tube with the water in it, this made it go all bubbly and explode out of the tube.  Then we used a coin to cut the ice which was successful.
