INDIVIDUAL ACHIEVEMENTS

Term 3 Holidays

Gabriella Pezzimenti in Year 7 represented Victoria in the Under 13 State Team for Hockey over the holidays in Hobart, Tasmania.  She has exceptional talent which was on show where she achieved two player of the match awards in the first week of matches. Gabriella has been named co-captain of the team together with two other participants. This is an outstanding achievement, and the College is extremely proud of her development as an athlete to get the best out of herself in her sport.

Over school holidays, Aoife Greenwood represented Victoria in the Door Dash National Youth Championships. This is an annual tournament contested by Australia’s best young Touch Footballers. It was held on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. Representing her state at this elite level has been a very rewarding experience for Aoife and she thoroughly enjoyed herself. This is a great example of the growth and development we have seen in Aoife’s athletic talents. Her willingness to give anything a go is testament to the success she is experiencing throughout 2022.

Yr10 PE

Year 10 students are participating in the Inclusive Games Unit. They are putting themselves in a position whereby they do not have full use of their limbs, sight, vision to give them some perspective on how it would be to have a disability. Activities have been challenging, but have given students insight and knowledge about different sports played/competed at the Paralympics and other inclusive sports competitions. Students have had to use their peers to assist, but also their own inner strength and persistence to complete the activities.

Bounce!

The Year 11 VCE PE students attended Bounce in Glen Iris on Friday afternoon as part of their unit on Biomechanics.

Students loved jumping on the trampolines, using their strength on the X Park adventure challenge and having some friendly rivalry between classes during a dodgeball game.

They will need to apply their experiences to questions on biomechanical principles, including Newton’s Laws, impulse and balance.
