Tomorrow we have closure day with a focus Religious Education and spirituality. All staff are involved in this professional learning and we will be at the conference facility at Werribee Holiday Inn. An SMS and Dojo reminder has been sent to ensure the community is aware of this day. I thank John for organising this day and for the community's patience as this date has changed a number of times due to COVID restrictions and presenter illness.
The parents and Friends Committee are planning a disco here at school. Full details to follow regarding cost etc.
When: Friday 18th November
Time: 6:30 - 8:30pm
Where: OLSC Sports Centre
Full details will follow shortly however please put this in your diary!
Schools have been advised of some changes to the guidelines regarding COVID and isolation requirements. The summary below is taken from the most up to date school operations guide.
The Victorian Government has announced the end of the pandemic declaration and pandemic orders as 11:59pm on Wednesday 12th October, 22.
The following remains as a strong recommendation for students affected by COVID:
Last week the year 5/6 students attended camp from Wednesday until Friday. The location of the camp was at Sovereign Hill in Ballarat and all students represented our school in an impressive way by their conduct while away. It was a jammed packed three days and two nights and I'm sure all the students slept well on Friday (the staff all did too!).
Thanks to Bec, John, Chelsea, Cheryl, Scott, Lisa, Hayley, Alexandra, Anna, Gillian and Jordan for their tireless supervision at camp and taking time away from their own families to attend.
We currently have a waiting list for placement at OLSC in all year levels. If you are not planning to return to OLSC in 2023 please let the office know as soon as possible.
Some family friends of current enrolments have sought enrolment at OLSC and unfortunately all non-catholic families will be placed on a waiting list until we finalise numbers.
We have some exciting baby news to share with the community! Krystin is expecting twins at the beginning of next year. She is eagerly awaiting the arrival and is busily organising the nursery and will also need a bigger car.
Our sports centre is almost ready to re-open. The final touches are being completed including door trims, door hanging and wall replacement. We expect that the sports centre will be ready to use in time for our multi-cultural day on Friday 21st October.
Over the term break there were numerous works taking place to maintain and improve the facilities at OLSC. Some of these included painting of the portables and painting of the paneling around the building. The keen eye may have noticed that the mission brown panelling is now monument grey to match the colour bond of the sports centre.
It is now a requirement that all students have a school hat each day in order to play
outside. School hats are available at the office should you require a new one. Please ensure that your child wears a school hat throughout the duration of Term 4.
Thank you everyone for your patience as we negotiated today's heavy rain and limited gates open at the beginning and end of the school day. The yards were quite flooded by 7:30am this morning!
Have a great weekend and see you next week.
Justin and all of the staff at OLSC
