Water bottles

The sun is out and despite some showers on the weekend, the weather is definitely warming up. Water bottles are essential at this time of year and must be carried around. We are encouraging students to fill their bottles before classes begin and to ensure they are drinking enough particularly on Farm and in Trades.  While we have water fountains around the College, a water bottle is essential to stay hydrated during the day and avoid fatigue and headaches.

Skippers Ticket Training

Exciting news! We have been able to secure Skippers Ticket Training with Craig Bates, from Mandurah Boat Training in Dawesville, on the weekend of 19 and 20 November 2022.  The cost is currently $300 for the ticket only which includes theory and practical sessions. We are seeking EOI from parents via email, to me by Monday 31 October 2022 Kristine.van@education.wa.edu.au

Should we have more than 10 students who are dedicated to doing this certificate, we will need to look at staying the Saturday night at a camp close to the marina. This would then add extra costs to the weekend but I do not estimate it to be more than $50 per student at this stage. Please don’t hesitate to give me a call if you have any questions.

Student Special Dinner

On Monday 31 October, we are having our student planned Special Dinner with a Halloween Theme. Student Council have designed fabulous posters which are displayed around the College and staff have been invited to join the students for dinner. Dress ups are a must.  All donations are going to Aussie Helpers, a cause chosen by the students.  The kitchen staff are planning an amazing feast of cauldrons and other  scary delights. This will be followed by a scary movie night in the Rec Hall. I have my costume ready and can't wait for the event.  I shall share lots of photos next week.

Changes in travel plans for students

Can I please ask parents to ring me or the Residential Supervisors phone if there are any changes in travel details, either leaving or returning to the College that are different to the initial entry put on REACH. I really appreciate the changes put into the REACH system but a quick phone call ensures we understand when and how your young person is travelling if there are any sudden changes on the day. Many parents already do this and we are grateful, as we take our Duty of Care very seriously.

Weekend activities

Last weekend the Cunderdin Hot Rod Show and golfing at Whaleback were very popular. This weekend we are going Ice skating on Saturday and a tour and walk around York on Sunday.
