Message From Our Principal

Mrs Jackie Stockdale

As I publish this newsletter there are people in our community who face the impact of flooding. I know that the thoughts and prayers of our whole school community are with these people during this time of need.

Welcome back to term 4! It has been lovely to see lots of smiling, happy children back at school over the last two weeks. The sounds coming from the learning spaces and around the playground brings joy to all of us. It’s been so good to watch the children return back to school routines, reconnect with their friends and teachers and resume school life again.

A big thank you to Miss Hayes and Harry who attended the Grade 2 camp last week. They ensured that our students had a memorable experience. We received lovely feedback regarding the behaviour, attitude and manners of our students.

Planning is well underway for 2023. This term we welcomed some new students and families to our school, with 2023 Foundation students doing 2 hours of Little Paddy's every Friday. When teachers, class structures and classrooms are finalised for 2023 you will receive a letter to inform you.

During the holidays Bourke Builders completed our latest renovation. These 2 renovated classes will shortly be occupied by our current Grade 5-6 class and current Grade F-1. These classes will stay in these new classrooms until the end of the year.

As a result of transitioning our school uniform to Hip Pocket Echuca, Workwear Connect in Kyabram no longer stocks our current school uniform. We now have all current stock of our school uniform onsite at school for you to purchase at a discounted price. You can purchase the uniform stock we have by visiting the office and using card payment only, no cash please. Purchases can take place any day between 8:30-9am and 3:30-4pm.

The new uniform will be transitioned in, so this uniform will be able to be worn next year. The grey and green bottoms will remain part of the uniform going forward.

Sun Protection:

Our students have been doing a super job wearing their school hats when they are outside. At St Patrick’s students are expected to wear a hat during all outdoor activities during Term 4 and Term 1 in accordance with the school's Sun Protection Policy. Children will remain under the verandah if they are not wearing their hat during break times.

The after-school arrangements in place to ensure all children leave school safely are as follows:

  1. Two staff members take students who are walking home, walking to a parked car, riding a bike or scootering home to the designated crossing and ensure that they cross the road safely.
  2. Two staff members take students who are being collected by car in the drive-thru arrangement, to the undercover area at the front of the school and ensure they are loaded safely into their car. These cars line up at the front of the school and flow through the drive-thru in front of the church.
  3. Two staff members take students who are catching the bus to the bus zone after they are marked off a bus attendance roll.
  4. Two staff members walk students who are attending ‘Schools Out’ After School Care to Tongala Primary School, using the back exit on the oval.
  5. Students who have their parents waiting in the school yard leave school with their parents.

On Monday 10th we had a purple casual day to raise awareness and money for our local organisation ‘The Gift’. The Kyabram Gift Inc is a charity that raises valuable funds for local people living with cancer.
