Leadership Report

Good afternoon all,

Welcome to the start of Term 4. We are full steam ahead for the end of the year. All the staff have had a busy and positive start to the term. This week, Dehlia is at a Principal’s conference and is learning many things to help implement back into our school. We are preparing and looking forward to a full term of celebrating this year and preparing for next year. We want to thank all our staff for their hard work in preparing for the final term and preparing materials for our students.

We are excited to have returned to our school with many changes to our facilities and construction works. We are sure you’ve noticed, but our old A Block has been demolished in preparation for our new building. Our new carpark is progressing and is scheduled to be completed around the end of October. Once we know more information, we will communicate that with you via the newsletter, social media and SeeSaw. We appreciate your patience with these works, as we know it’s an inconvenience, but it’s ‘short term pain for long term gain’.

This week is Mental Health Week and it aims to shine a spotlight on individual and community mental health and wellbeing across the state. We are introducing some new things for our staff to highlight Mental Health Week and communicating support techniques. We encourage our parents to think about your mental health and to seek assistance if needed. A positive mental health and wellbeing is all about connecting with the people in our lives and creating space for conversations about such topics.

This term we have had one of our teachers return - so welcome back Brett Davey. We are glad to have you back. We also had our new Chaplain Jayden, start with us. Chappy Jayden works with us on Mondays and Tuesdays and is working his way around meeting all our students.

This week, we have our P&C meeting on Friday 14 October at 9am and all parents are encouraged to attend to hear what the P&C are up to and programs they are supporting in our school.

Prep Orientation is in Week 4 (Wednesday 26.10.22) and we’re looking forward to meeting with prospective families and showing them our amazing school.

Our next set of culminating events are Week 6, commencing Monday 7.11.22 - as we get closer, there will be more information to come regarding these events.

Thank you to our parents who have already completed the Community Engagement survey. If you have not done so already, could you please complete this by following the link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RNSSparentengagement

Our community voice is important to us and will inform how we connect with you. The survey will take about 1 minute to complete.

We encourage open communication in our school, between our families and our staff. We are working on effective methods to suit individual needs, but predominately communication should take place via SeeSaw or Communication Books. We are also working with staff to upskill their ability and knowledge with SeeSaw, to be able to share students’ work with their families. to create a conversation point for you in the afternoons or over dinner.

Being a SunSmart school is important as it looks after the health and safety of our staff and students, especially coming into the warmer months. We want to encourage all staff and students to wear a hat when they are outside, especially at play times on the oval or on the playground in our Junior Play.

We are looking forward to a full term and we are excited for Term 4 at our school.

Kind regards,

Sam, Amy & Alana.
