Mathematics - Problem solving.

Problem solving is the fourth element to the four proficiencies in Mathematics.

Problem Solving in Mathematics involves the ability of students to make choices, interpret, formulate, model and investigate problem situations. When problem solving, students learn to use strategies to efficiently break open a problem, work through the problem, and communicate their steps to solve the problem.

A problem solving activity you can share at home:

Cat & Mouse (link to board here)

The goal of the game is to avoid the cat and get the mouse to the cheese! It’s not as easy as it seems…

Use a dice - odd numbers follow the O arrow, even numbers, the E arrow.

Are there ways to modify the game so that the mouse has a better chance at getting the cheese?
