Over the last 20 years, greater attention has been directed toward approaches based on validating practices that apply what we know about the science of human behaviour to improve school climate and discipline. School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) is a multi-tiered process for teaching social and behavioural skills so its focus can be on teaching and learning. Schools have the responsibility to provide an education to all students in a safe and predictable environment. Establishing a positive, proactive schoolwide discipline plan is a necessary first step for enabling schools to achieve their goals and responsibilities.
This year the school has been accepted into the School Wide Positive Behaviour Support coaching program through the Department of Education. We will be undertaking many professional developments and then in turn sending surveys for information to inform where to next and also gain community and student voice. All stake holders' input is valued and needed for this process.
As a starting process for engaging in this process we are reviewing the school values, as mentioned in earlier newsletters. Please find a link to the parent survey following - https://forms.office.com/r/MN3CYXLZGA
If the link does not work please copy and paste it into the address bar of your search engine. Staff and students will have a survey to complete also.
Many will remember that we started this process last year however time got away from us and with the new students and parents in our school community we decided that the information needed to be sought with all current stake holders involved.
