Principal's Report

with Simone Roy

The last 2 weeks of term will be very busy and disrupted, especially in the last week of the term.

Student Progress

This Friday, the end of Term 1 progress reports will be available in Compass to families. These reports focus on learning behaviours, rather than academic progress, and all students should be able to earn a level 3 result (out of a scale of 0 – 4) across the 4 learning areas of readiness to learn, learning mindset, work habits and values being assessed.

Conferences with families, students and teachers is happening on Wednesday 5th April, from 1.00 – 8.00pm, with a staff dinner break from 5.20 – 6.00pm. These 10 minute meetings will provide the opportunity for you to meet and discuss your child’s progress in their subjects. Bookings will be available through Compass shortly.

Water Update

Please find attached a copy of a letter that the Department has provided, giving more detail around the water situation. As per the last update from me, the Department’s testing provided the evidence that we had been seeing in the water for some time and they will be rectifying the issue by replacing the existing water pipes throughout the school in due course.

Illness Prevention

This time of year, with the change in the weather and tiredness at the end of a term, often lends itself to sickness. There is nothing worse than hitting the holidays and then getting sick! From the pandemic, we have learnt that hand hygiene and staying away from school when sick are 2 simple strategies that we can use to help prevent the spread of any illness.

While COVID restrictions have been eased, there are still recommendations in place:

  • The Department of Health recommends that masks should be worn by a person who is a close contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 when leaving home.
  • Additionally, the Department of Health recommends that masks should be worn by a person who has COVID-19 for at least 7 days after a positive test when they need to leave home.
  • It is recommended that rapid antigen tests (RATs) are used by students and staff If you have symptoms of COVID-19 infection, no matter how mild, if you are a household or close contact of someone who has COVID-19 or if you are a social contact of someone who has COVID-19.
  • Students who report a positive result are recommended to isolate for a minimum of 5 days and not attend school until their symptoms have resolved.
  • Staff who report a positive result are recommended to isolate for a minimum of 5 days and not attend school during that period.
  • Parents should inform the school of a positive result, but the school no longer needs to inform the school community.
  • Rapid Antigen Tests and masks are available from the office for students or families to collect as needed.
