International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day is a day that we celebrate women's achievements all around the world. It is a day where we bring attention to issues such as gender equality, discrimination that women face, as well as violence and abuse against women.

International Women’s Day has been celebrated on the 8th of March for over a century, with this year’s theme being ‘#EmbraceEquity’. Gender equity means respecting all people, regardless of their gender. To raise awareness this year, we held a BBQ to raise money towards ‘Wellsprings for Women’ - a Kildare Ministries Community Works, who supports all women to shape their own lives. This program offers services, supports and programs for women and for children to improve education, employment, health and wellbeing and to live life safely and free from violence. They accommodate women who did not have the opportunity to have an education, and continues to help and advocate for women that are from migrant, refugee or asylum seeker backgrounds.
