Specialist News - Performing Arts

Ms Stanton

Howdy all!

The term is coming to a close, but Trinity learners are still putting their utmost talent and effort in their Performing Arts work. In Prep, we are wrapping up our work on Goldilocks: students are combining their original dance moves with the chants we have been learning and they continue to work on using their facial expressions and voices to reflect different characters from the story.

This week in Years 1/2 and 3/4, students will take on the role of musicians as they embark on their final performances of their original graphic scores. These songs will provide the soundtrack for Term2’s readers’ theatre projects: Elm and Willow’s Adventures at Rippon Lea (1/2) and Cinderella (3/4). Learners have focused on creating songs that capture the mood and atmosphere of their assigned scene, experimenting with instruments to discover how they can best draw out the desired emotions in the listening audience. The ensemble work required throughout the different steps of this project have encouraged students to listen to one another, offer their ideas and find ways to fairly distribute parts of a performance so every member gets to shine.

In Year 5/6, students have finished their storyboards based on an open script given to them featuring two characters and tea. Learners had to interpret the script in their own way and then consider how it will be filmed, what music to use, and what genre of acting will result in the highest impact for a watching audience.

Next term, students will be placed in small groups (AKA film studios)and will be responsible for producing two films. Please look forward to the short films students will be creating in the coming term!

In line with the above project, students in Drama Club have been working on a short film to show all of you at assembly next term. Below is a short clip – get excited! Wishing everyone a joyous and relaxing term break!
