Miss Melita Roache - Religious Education Coordinator
Mrs Healy, Miss Roache, Mr May and Mr Kelly has the privilege of accompanying representatives from O’Connor to the ordination to priesthood of Fr Peterpaul Ikenna Chikezie this week. It was a wonderful celebration of vocation. Congratulations Fr Peterpaul on behalf of the whole O’Connor community.
It was wonderful to have some many students and members of the community join us for our 2022 Founders Day Celebrations. We started the day learning more about the founders St Angela Merici and St John Baptist De la Salle, with our LaSallian Youth Ministry preparing workshops for students to participate in. Paul Burton, the NSW State President for St Vincent de Paul provided our students a wonderful message of service through his reflections on his time at De la Salle college.
We then celebrated Mass in the De la Salle chapel. The Bishop provided a wonderful homily on the life of St Angela Merici, reminding us that we are each called to serve others as a means of true fulfilment and happiness. Thank you Bishop Michael, Fr Peterpaul and Fr Roel for joining us.
The concert was, as always, a wonderful celebration of our students' talents. Congratulations to everyone who performed. We share some footage and photos from the day.
Staff and students braved the rain for the traditions running of the Champion of Champions and capture the flag to finish another wonderful founders day. Thank you to the La Sallian Youth Leaders, year 12 leaders and teachers for making it such a wonderful celebration.

As part of the Sacred Scripture unit, Mrs Channon's class has been working on a prayer task. Students were asked to choose a theme close to their heart and then develop a mini liturgy that involved them presenting it to the rest of the class. Two groups have so far presented and they have been amazing. The themes were racism and reconciliation and forgiveness. These will continue over the next couple of weeks.
So reverent and respectful, well thought out and prepared. The audience has also been so reflectful at these times also. They are all to be congratulated on their awesome efforts.

Keeping in touch with what is happening in the Cathedral Parish is easy through their website and Facebook pages.
With such a difficult year and a half it has been harder for parishioner's to give to the parish through the plates, particularly when the church is closed as it is at present. The Parish account details are available on the Parish bulletin.
