LIBRARY NEWS

What day is your child's library day?

With a new start to the term, here is a reminder about library days for your child. Library bags on library day are an expectation and borrowing a variety of books greatly exposes your child to new vocabulary and spelling BUT, even more importantly, new points of view, environments, situations and characters. Reading builds EMPATHY!

We have a beautiful, growing library collection at each campus, so please ensure your child has an opportunity to take advantage of that.

Kinder - every Friday

Year 1  - every Thursday

Year 2  - every Thursday

Year 3 - ODD weeks of term - Monday or Tuesday

Year 4 - ODD weeks of term - Tuesday or Wednesday

Year 5 - EVEN weeks of term - Monday

Year 6 - EVEN weeks of term - Tuesday or Wednesday

Save the Date

Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) Book Week is in Week 6 this term!

So, dust off the costumes from your favourite book character and get ready for the best books for Australian children to be announced! More details later.

1000 Books Before School Project

A reminder that if you have enrolled your child for Kinder 2023, you are most welcome and encouraged to join our 1000 Books Before School Project.

Just pop into the ladies at the Infants Office and they will get you started. A never-ending bag of books to borrow and to share with your child to help set them up for the best start to their school learning years.

If you have already joined, don't forget to come and visit to exchange your new set of books.

PRC Reminder for Participants

Another gentle reminder that this year's Premier's Reading Challenge closes in mid August. If you are completing this at home with your child, please be noting the books on your PRC Reading Record log so everyone gets to complete it who nominated in Term 1.

What day is the library open on each campus?

Primary:  Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday every week.

Infants:   Thursday and Friday every week.

Both campuses are open:

From 8.15am for Early Bird reading and sticker collecting; and Recess and Lunch in playtime for reading, drawing and various clubs.

See you in the Library,

Mrs Annie

K-6 Teacher Librarian
