WELCOME BACK

WELCOME BACK

What a fantastic first semester we had in Mellor, full of fun, friendship and learning! The first few weeks of the second semester saw classes building on routines and expectations in anticipation and preparation for our fantastic and beautiful new building. Teachers worked very hard to set up the learning spaces for a successful semester.

A reminder that the day begins at 8.50am and students should be lining up independently with their class. Your child is to carry their own bag to school. We finish at 3.10pm.

Semester 1, highlights included Harmony Day, HASS dressing up as a job from the past and a number of assemblies where the Mellor students successfully shared many aspects of their learning. Another great highlight included a fantastic trip to the Railway Museum. Thank you to all the helpers that came along. Another highlight was Reconciliation Week, where we did a variety of hands-on activities to mark this important occasion.

As we settle into Semester 2, we want to remind families of the importance of regular home reading.  It is an expectation that reading is recorded on a daily basis in your child's reading toolkit folder.

Every class in Mellor stops for fruit at around 10.00am so please try to remember a piece of fruit for each day.

The Connect Four Mellor homework grid is published every term and gives a variety of ideas and tasks for your child to complete at home. We encourage students to bring in their learning from home to share with us.

With swimming lessons in Week 7, just a friendly reminder to clearly label all lunch boxes, drink bottles and clothing, including hats. This helps lost items get back to their owners.

September is fast approaching and that means that the Premier’s Reading Challenge due date will soon be here. Try and bring your filled out form in as soon as possible.

We look forward to a fantastic second semester. Keep your eyes peeled for exciting excursions on the horizon, Book Week, Swimming, Goal Setting meetings (WEEKS 5, 6) and Sports Day!
