Pathway Mentoring

 Year 10

Over the past term Year 10 students have been working in our Pathway Mentoring class, learning about vocational pathways, course requirements and subject choices for Year 11.

During the last week of Term 2 students will receive their Senior School Handbook. This contains information about career pathways and the subjects that students may choose to study in Year 11. Please spend some time, with your child, viewing the handbook and discussing options.  As parents you will know your child’s passions, strengths, and interests and this will help you to guide and support your child as they plan their senior secondary schooling.  At school we will continue to guide and support your child with the help of our experienced and dedicated Careers team.

These decisions are very important. As such, we are devoting time at school to ensure all students have all the information needed to make informed decisions. This can only be achieved with family support and input.

To provide you with more information about the process, we will be hosting a Parent/Carer information session at the College on Wednesday 13 July, 6.30 – 7.30pm. This session will also be live streamed. Additional details about the evening will be provided directly to parents and students through Compass.  Arabic, Dari, Swahili translators will be available on the night.

The College has prioritised our 2022 Year 10 students and the importance of their subject selections for 2023. To ensure we make maximum use of this opportunity, we have dedicated two days, in the third week of Term 3, to course counselling.  Parents and students will meet with a Careers Practitioner for an individual appointment before making a final selection of subjects for next year. Year 10 students will attend this appointment at the school with their parent/carer. For the remainder of the two days, students will work remotely from home.

All work will be on Compass and must be completed and submitted on Compass.  Catch up lunch sessions will be held for students who do not complete the tasks while at home.

Please contact me at school on 5891 2000 if you have any queries.
