Introduction to the Business World

Year 10 - Agriculture

Students visited Noumi , Kreskas Transport, Rubicon  and Plunkett Orchards this week for their Introduction to the Business World studies. It was amazing to see the various production of goods entailing manual labour, 50/50 manual and automation, or 100 % automation in the factory environments.

They were introduced to the variety of employment opportunities and qualifications needed to work in these businesses. Students were also engaged in the safety processes at each business, this was particularly evident at Noumi having to change into clothing and boots for various sections of the factory to protect food security.

Plunkett Orchards explained the sizing and packing of fruit through their automation processes, for export. Rubicon took the students through their factory, showing them how the electronic components of their gates are built and implemented into the workings of the water gate systems. Kreskas Transport explained the size of their business and how their logistic operations work.

Many thanks to GMLLEN for their organisation of the day and the management and staff of Noumi, Kreskas Transport, Rubicon and Plunkett Orchards for giving up your time to support our students.
