From the Leadership Team

As the semester rapidly draws to a close it is interesting to reflect on what has occurred this semester and celebrate all of the successful 'firsts' at the new site. The 'first' Presentation Ball, the 'first' swimming sports, the 'first' cross country etc!

I could list many events that have happened for the first time on our new site. What is important is what we have learnt and how we can use that knowledge as we head into second semester.

The beginning of second semester will be much smoother as staff and students are now familiar with the layout of the school and how everything operates.

Tonight our second Presentation Ball is being held at Eastbank with more than sixty participants. They are all nervous but eager for the night to begin. These evenings, organised by Imogen Short, have been highly successful in the past and all involved will undoubtedly have a great night.

Elevate Education

On Thursday and Friday this week our VCE Year 12 students have had the opportunity to attend a presentation provided from Elevate Education during their private study session. This session is focused on supporting students in getting the most out of their time at school and at home in achieving their academic goals.

So far the attendance rate has been good, and feedback from the students has been that it has been a valuable session for them to refocus on their goals and target their study strategies.

A huge thanks to those teachers who are supervising the sessions, and especially to Jo Ash and Mel Holland-Neale for coordinating this event to run smoothly and ensure that students didn't miss their classes.

Senior School Exams

Over the past few weeks Year 10 and 11 students have had what, for most of them, is their first attempt at formal examinations. The Year 10 students sat their examinations at school during their double session and this has proven to be very successful.

For the Year 11 students the experience was more formal. The students sat their exams at the Visy Centre. The exams were very well attended and Ian Goldrick was highly complimentary of the students conduct and effort.

Well done to all who participated in the exams. Thanks to Mr Goldrick and the facilities team for ensuring that all ran smoothly.

Senior School Changeover

This week our senior students commenced their Semester 2 subjects. Unit 1 and 3 studies are now completed and students have commenced their Unit 2 and 4 studies.

Whole School Assemblies

Earlier this term we held a Whole School Assembly organised by the Bayuna Neighbourhood. It was a great celebration of the achievements of our students. Next Thursday we will be holding our second Whole School assembly and this will be organised by the Dharnya Neighbourhood Leadership Team. The assemblies are conducted by students, most notably our College Captains and House Captains.

In a weeks time we will be breaking for holidays. Hopefully the break will do more than give us a rest but will also slow the spread of viruses.

On behalf of the leadership team I hope that everyone has a restful break and comes back ready to tackle our second semester together.
